|Oregano Oil is her Life Saver
by Shelley O.
Hi Ed! I love your website and can relate to everything you and your readers say. I'm a 29 year-old sufferer of P for 11 years now, and every year it seems to get worse. The only time I didn't have P was when I was pregnant and I can't be prego all my life!
About six months ago, after the birth of my son, I went into full blown P over 80 percent of my body. I was very depressed. I wouldn't leave the house for weeks except to go to the grocery store and to take my daughter to school. I wouldn't even spend time in our yard.
My sister-in-law told me about an herb called "oil of oregano" she had been taking for her sinus headaches. She told me about the herb and the doctor who wrote a book about it and she remembered the doctor mentioning its use for P. So I bought his book thinking what the heck, I've tried everything else!
I have been using this natural antiseptic for a few months now and I don't even have to see a dermatologist any more! No more ointments and UVB treatments and toxic drugs that only help for a few weeks! This stuff is a life saver and, in my opinion, the closest thing to a cure.
Some people are skeptical about natural herbs and such, but if you use this and stick to it I'm positive it will make you free of the awful disease we have. If you want more info on this herb, buy the book The Cure Is In The Cupboard by Cass Ingram. Barnes & Noble carry it on their website and the oil can be bought on the Internet or sometimes at a health store. You won't be sorry! Good Luck! -Shelley O. from Michigan
Ed’s Response: Thanks for the tip, Shelley. I went to the newsgroup archives via the Skin Page and found thirteen messages containing "oregano oil." Also, Ingram and his book were mentioned. I read that oregano oil is a natural antibacterial — one of the strongest of many derived from plants — and in some cases has shown to be more effective at killing germs than man-made antibiotics. Oregano oil is evidently very good at combating candida infection in the gut.
For a long time, candidiasis has been associated with P in the homeopathic literature (see Candidiasis Therapy Beat My Psoriasis). So it certainly cannot be said that an association between using oregano oil and P improvement is far-fetched. Hopefully that will mute some of your skeptics.
That said, the whole tenor of the argument against homeopathic approaches to P treatment holds forth when we consider oregano oil. This general counter-argument has at least two substantial parries:
The newsgroup individual who mentioned Cass Ingram and his book wrote that Ingram believes P is caused by allergies and fungal infections. (Remember, this is someone else’s interpretation of Ingram; I’ve not read his book.) This is a minority opinion these days, and becoming more so all the time. The current majority opinion is that P is an immunological dysfunction at the genetic level which is triggered by a variety of metabolic and environmental factors only some of which may be fungal infections and, perhaps (but not likely) allergies.
All of this means that you must be among that percentage of flakers who are triggered by infections, and those infections are thwarted by the amount of oregano oil you are using (and the manner in which you are using it). In short, you have found a way to control your trigger.
And that, Shelley, is cause for celebration without regard for public opinion! -Ed
