New to P
from Margaret

Hi Ed: What a wonderful site. I never knew there were so many people with the same problem I have. This is a new experience for me. My P appeared just last summer. It has gotten progressively worse since then. One of my Doc's was treating me for Candida Yeast overgrowth and the meds that he gave me—three shots a week plus Lamisil Cream and pills—did no good at all. I also found out later that the Lamisil can cause liver damage. My internist finally diagnosed the P. She is now treating me with Fluocinonide, which is not doing much good, either. Some of the things I have read at your site are definitely going to be things that I try. Thanks for maintaining the site and I will keep coming back. -Margaret

Ed's Response: Your welcome, Margaret. And my usual first-timer handshake: "Glad you could make it, sorry you had to come." Your story sounds like a familiar refrain to many of us: Initial mis-diagnosis, then a gradual step up the prescrips, from mild to strong.

Fluocinonide was one of the first topicals they tried on me, too. In fact, I still use the solution (liquid) around and in my ears.

I've heard about P mistaken for many other things, but never "Candida Yeast overgrowth." Is that because Candida Yeast is a female thing I'm likely not to NEED to know about? And another question. Is someone in GOOD health, or at least BETTER THAN AVERAGE, if they are diagnosed with Candida Yeast UNDERgrowth?

Keep us apprized of how the battle goes, Margaret. -Ed
