More Good Luck with Vicks VapoRub
from Wanda M.

I read a medical column in an old newspaper that suggested healing psoriasis with VICKS VapoRub. My husband has it all over his body so decided to try it.  He put it on the large, white scabs on his arms twice a day, morning and night. It was amazing. Today is his third day and all of the scabs have dried up and fallen off. The skin underneath is a pink color — like the new skin that appears after a burn. He has tried expensive prescription creams, over the counter creams, diet and all of the “Amazing Miracle Cures.”  This is the first time something has actually worked. He also says that the Vicks feels very cool and soothing when you put it on. Please post this in the hopes that it will help others who suffer from this terrible disease.  -Wanda

Ed’s Response: Thanks for writing Wanda, I will post this in the Jul-Aug update. Meanwhile, you may find this exchange from 1998 interesting: Vicks for P?

*****

Wanda’s Response: Thanks Ed. In the same article I read, it also mentioned banana peels. You do this twice a day as well. My husband tried this on his knees at the same time he was using the Vicks on his arms. The scabs dried up and fell off in the same amount of time (2 days) but the skin turned a dark brown color. As not everything works for everyone, you might want to mention this as well. If even one person finds relief, it is worth the effort. Thanks for the article — I wish I had known about it when my kids had chicken pox. Keep up the good work. -Wanda

[6 weeks later] Ed’s Response: How's the Vicks working for your husband after a month and a half?

*****

Wanda’s Response: It is working great. He got rid of all the white scaly scabs and they have not come back. He threw away all of the expensive prescription creams which weren't working anyway. As a preventative measure he puts a little Vicks on his knees and elbows at night, and they are no longer sore and cracked. He swears by it. Hope this helps. -Wanda
