Flea Bag
from Jazmin

Hi. My name is Jazmin. I am 22 yrs old. I found out I had psoriasis when I was about 8 yrs old. It was HELL for me. Your page has made me realize I am not the only person in the world who has this. Now to just figure out how to get rid of it!

I have it in places that are pretty easy to cover up, except for my scalp. It itches so much and I scratch till it bleeds. Do you have any suggestions? It is becoming too much to handle. I have almost no stress in my life and the only time it ever went away was when I was pregnant. I can live with it everywhere except my scalp. It hurts. I am tired of all the weird drugs, creams and stuff the doctors give me.

Anyway, thank you! I hope to hear from you soon. -Your new friend, Jazmin

P.S. They called me FLEA-BAG in school and it haunts me every day!

Ed's Reply: Previously in this month's correspondence (and in archived material) I've addressed the scalp psoriasis problem. The only fix I've found at all effective—"scalp cocktail"—is expensive and yucky.

Don't let being called "flea bag" haunt you. Obviously the jeerers were ignorant. Fleas don't give a hoot about your flakes. Dust mites ... well ... they're something else.

If you haven't joined the National Psoriasis Foundation, Jazmin, I heartily recommend it. They'll send you a little library of necessary information as well as two periodicals that keep you informed. (Click on their name to go to their site.) -Ed
